War for the Planet of the Apes first production image released

The first set image from War for the Planet of the Apes.
We've always been big fans of the original Planet of the Apes films, but we really dig the new Ape movies, which take the franchise in a different direction but still manage to entertain.

That's why we're stoked about this first picture form the set of War for the Planet of the Apes, which was recently tweeted out by director Matt Reeves to mark the start of production. "It Has Begun," the director said. You can click the image to see a larger version.

Reeves has also confirmed that Michael Giacchino will return to score the film.
